Lodge News

Due to the Coronavirus, many facets of Scouts BSA have changed. This extends to its National Honor Society, held up by proud men and women, keeping the ideals of scouting prominent within their communities. More scouts were on their way into our organization, however due to the Coronavirus many parts of their Ordeal during Spring Fellowship have changed. This unfortunate side effect extends to the Ordeal Members on their way to Brotherhood, and how our Saturday Work Day will proceed. The following information will explain the changes to these events, and how they will flow together.

Ordeal Candidates (eligible to anyone elected on or after Feb 1, 2019):

  • ** Any Ordeal candidate elected between Feb 1, 2019 and July 1, 2020 has 2 years from the date of their election to complete their Ordeal Induction.**
  • Ordeal will occur Jun 26-27, optional to stay overnight Sat, Jun 27.  Those staying Sat night will need to leave after breakfast on Sunday.
  • Check-In will occur Jun 26, 5-7pm at the Hallet Building.
  • Ordeal Clans will be kept separated and social distancing will be used to the maximum extent possible.
  • Some ceremony adjustments will be made (e.g. we may hold multiple ceremonies, increased distance between participants, locations may change, etc).
  • Meals provided will include Sat Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, and Sun Breakfast for those that stay Sat night.

Brotherhood Candidates:

  • Brotherhood candidates are invited to join us for the day on Sat, Jun 27.  You will not be permitted to stay overnight.
  • Check-in will occur on Jun 27, 7am-Noon at the Hallet Building.
  • During Sat morning you are invited to provide Cheerful Service to KSR.
  • After lunch the Brotherhood workshop & Brotherhood Ceremonies will occur.
  • Some ceremony adjustments will be made (e.g. we may hold multiple ceremonies, increased distance between participants, locations may change, etc).
  • Meals provided will include Sat Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner.

Work Day for Lodge Members:

  • All Lodge Members are invited to join us for the day on Sat, Jun 27 to provide Cheerful Service to KSR.  You will not be permitted to stay overnight.
  • Check-in will occur on Jun 27, 7am-Noon at the Hallet Building.
  • During the day on Saturday you are invited to provide Cheerful Service to KSR.  With the lack of work days the last several months, there is sufficient work to be done.
  • Meals provided will include Sat Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner.

For all 3 events:

  • ** Registration will close on Sat, Jun 20th. ** Please register online at https://norwela.tentaroo.com or in-person at the Scout Office.
  • If you have already registered & paid for the Spring Fellowship & Ordeal, your registration will automatically move to this event.  In the event you have already registered and cannot attend this event, please contact us via email at norwelacaddolodge@gmail.com – an alternate is to attend our Fall Fellowship & Ordeal, Oct 2-4, 2020, or the Spring Fellowship & Ordeal, March 26-28, 2021 (provided you are still an eligible Ordeal Candidate).
  • All participants (LEC, Ceremonialists, Candidates, Supporting Staff, Lodge Members) will have temp checks done during check-in.  Fevers above 100.4 or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms (cough or shortness of breath) you will not be permitted to participate.
  • Those who fall under the CDC’s “People who at higher risk for Severe Illness” – https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-at-higher-risk.html- are asked to not participate in this event.
  • All participants are encouraged to wear a mask/face covering as much as possible when social distancing is not possible.  During work periods (when sweating is expected), masks/face coverings are not recommended as per LDH guidance they are ineffective when they become wet/damp.
  • Other than Lodge officers, advisers and supporting staff, we ask that Lodge members not plan to attend ceremonies.  Exceptions will be made for Troop/Crew unit leaders that have an Ordeal candidate, as well as parents who ask to attend – however they must wear masks/face coverings and practice social distancing.
  • Schedule details (e.g. Meal & Ceremony Times) will be provided after Registration is closed and we know exactly how many participants are registered.
