2016 Recap

Our Arrowmen had a very busy 2016. We held our annual Spring and Fall Fellowships, and both were major successes. We had 29 Arrowmen participated in the 2016 SR-2 Conclave held at Trevor Rees-Jones Scout Camp in Athens, TX where we placed a bid and won the opportunity to host the 2017 Conclave. We provided summer camp staff and held an OA movie night and ice cream social and a callout at the closing campfires!  In July, we sent 7 Arrowmen to the Summit in West Virginia to attend Prism, a national Order of the Arrow event for Arrowmen to visit the Summit and explore its program and for a special ceremony to rededicate the new National Order of the Arrow Ring “The Summit Circle”. On our way back, we spent the night in Memphis and were able to take a private tour of St. Jude Children’s  Hospital, a wonderful opportunity even our manliest Arrowmen will treasure the rest of their lives.  In September, we participated in the annual Coman-D0-Gun tri-lodge event, and we proudly won the shooting competition.  We provided staff and held a pancake breakfast for both Akela weekends and Cuboree. Our Lodge Chief also had the honor of serving as Program Director for the second weekend of Akela 2016. In October, we set out Lodge Key 3 and our vice chief to the National BSA Office in Irving, TX for the Section COC, where our Lodge Chief gave a presentation about KSR and we began the Conclave planning process. In November, we had 2o Arrowmen participate in the OA Southern Region OA Relief Corps and partnered with UMCOR to produce 130 health and hygiene kits for victims of South Louisiana flooding. We finished our year by elfing-up and helping in Santa’s Workshop at Red River Chevrolet.  We had a fantastic 2016, and 2017 is looking to be even better!
